“What is this all about?”, is probably what the visitors of the third fabriktag (factory day) event at the BASF designfabrik^® thought when seeing this car made of foam measuring three times seven metres.

The vehicle of Neopor^® reflects this year’s motto “Living meets driving”, under which more than 100 designers from various sectors – from vehicle construction to electronics through to sports – came together in Mannheim.

The object impressed visitors not only due to its size: when the two halves of the car are pulled apart, material samples such as bicycle inner tubes, cushions, and sports shoes made of foam are revealed in its interior, inviting visitors to reflect on future mobility and living. The clear advantages of the Neopor^® car: it is very lightweight, sturdy, and easy to produce. It was designed by the Steffen Kehrle design studio in Munich.
